i haven't posted an entry to this xanga in nearly a year, and this isn't really a post either. i'm just reminding anyone who does subscribe to this xanga but not my other one--all my MDS updates will be on there.

bailey and i helped my grandma can apple-sauce and freeze corn today and afterwards she went through some recipes and told me about the other volunteers at Pass Christian that i will work with.

i'm getting VERY excited

aparently one of the guys there is pretty mean but he won't be a project director when i'm there...just another long-termer. the secretary that is there now is one of my grandma's favorites but she'll be leaving three weeks after i get there. this guy Fete is from Germany that my grandparents know from working in North Carolina with him and my grandma has given me strict instructions not to fall for him since he told them that he will never live anywhere other than Germany. they didn't tell me much about the other guy youth volunteer that's going to be there while i am--but they don't know him as well.

my grandma says that the beach is really nice and has been cleaned up really well in some areas but other areas are still pretty bad. i now know for sure that i will be right at 1 mile from the beach. and aparently there's an island that you can ride out to on a ferry and then rent a chair and umbrella for the day. my grandma didn't ever go to the island but the other ladies that went said it was very nice out there and not too many people go out there.

i don't really know what to do about what clothes to pack. my grandma acted like i didn't need to take much other than work clothes. then when i asked about what to wear to church she almost seemed to think that i didn't need to wear skirts to church--which i always do and always have...i was shocked...my CONSERVATIVE MENNONITE grandma acted like i didn't need to wear a skirt to church.

well...this has been too long of a post...but i'm just getting REALLY excited...

ahh...less than two weeks and i'll be there!

pictures from the last several weeks

bailey and i got all "dolled up" meaning we tried to make our faces look rather gawdy-but that's all lost in the pictures. the goal was to look scared...i think bailey is just trying to open her mouth really wide

nathan and i at his wedding reception...even though you can't really see us

i promise you that quin is "picking" her own nose

here's a series of "lincoln loves me" pictures (he normally doesn't like his picture to be taken) which were all taken on our way to colorado

Grandpa playing baseball

back: me, bailey, and quin; front: monte, paige, and moria; very front: haley

our "cabin" was the only one with a bathroom: lance washing his feet

"all" the cousins at the cave (over 1/2 the cousins weren't there)...back: logan, me, marshal, lincoln, lucas, lance, bailey, melanie, and lauryn; front: monte, spencer, tanya, quinlan, and haley

Mississippi...

in exactly one month from today i will be in mississippi.

i'm going to be the head cook for two weeks and the rest of the time i believe i will be at the job sites helping w/ construction.

i will be the only female youth volunteer for the majority of the time i'm there (as far as they know at this point anyway) and there will be a male youth volunteer there for about 2 months of my term.
